Wrong hierarchy in Viewer based on Ticket#30 scenario

Description

I have rerun the case described in Ticket#30 with the DLLs provided on June 30 around midnight. The log file obtained is attached. I am still concerned by the fact that in the Viewer the hierarchy of calls is not properly displayed. Every call onto AspenCOMThermo Thermo System is under the Initialize call made on the first instantiation of the Thermo System in Simulis Thermodynamics while the call to get the list of available Property packages should be at the same level as the Initialize call.

Michel,

There are a number of problems with this file:

  • it appears that Initialize and Terminate are throwing exceptions that COLTT is not catching so the logfile doesn't contain the lines indicating that the call has returned.
  • A number of the properties calls use CAPE-OPEN reporting and again don't output the return statement from the call that the viewer is expecting.

I think I have fixed the error logging and I've also recompiled the DLLs with different options to try to catch the exceptions but I am not able to test these changes quickly. Could you try for me? Keep a back up of the previous DLLs I sent and then just replace them with these and run the same example.

Let me know what happens, and send the log file if you get one...

By the way, I have updated the COLLT Development document and committed the Viewer to SourceForge.

Regards
Michael

I have been using TEA Thermo System in Simulis Thermodynamics and the hierarchy of entries shown by the Viewer are correct, so very much different from what happens with AspenCOMThermo in Simulis Thermodynamics. I have attached the corresponding log file obtained with COLTT 1.08.5 Build June 30, i.e. file excel_070110_150535.log
So the issue may be related indeed to the way the Thermo System is handling the call to Initialize.

I have rerun the scenario documented in Ticket#30 using the COLTT build dated May 30, 2011. The run by itself goes well except that the process EXCEL.EXE remains active well after Excel has been closed. I have obtained the attached log file which does not load well in the Viewer. I get the usual message about \"some problem reading the file\" and then the window where the log ought to be displayed stays blank while the log itself has plenty of lines. I don't know if this issue is the continuity of issue#52 but until further notice I keep it like that.
