Description

Originally reported by Siemens
"I downloaded and installed the COLTT software version 2 of your website. I am running it under windows 7 64-bit. COLTT Viewer starts fine. However, the COLTT Controller fails to start with message “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). After googling, It seems to be a compatibility problem between 32bit and 64bit versions. Is there are 64bit version of COLTT available or do you know hot solve this problem?"

There is not yet a 64-bit version of COLTT but I run the 32-bit version of COLTT within 64-bit machines with no issue (and especially under Win 7 64 bit). A 64-bit version of COLTT would deal with CAPE-OPEN components and environments which are in 64-bits. There are very few nowadays of these. However development of a 64-bit version of COLTT is underway.

From Siemens: "I installed the latest version you sent to me. As I said, the viewer start correctly, but when I start the controller I do get the following message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)"

“This error message may occur on 64 bit operating systems when the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package is not properly configured.”. Need to investigate first.

From Michael Halloran: "I think you are right about the C++ redistributable but I need some time to investigate.

"Siemens", in the meantime please try to download and install the MS redistributables for Visual Studio 2013 x86 version - you should be able to get it here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-GB/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Once the download is complete, run vcredist_x86.exe, and then try the Controller again.

Please let me know what happens if you try it.

From Siemens: "I installed the visual studio redistributables, but COLTT version 2.3 is still not working. I tried COLTT version 2.2 instead and this version is working. I don’t know what is the difference between 2.2 and 2.3 but I guess for you it’s interesting. I continue with version 2.2, that’s fine for me. I hope future versions will work on my computer as well

Thanks for your help

To Siemens

"Michael Halloran modified the installer for COLTT so that Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 redistributables
are now provided. This is consistent with the fact that COLTT is built with Microsoft Visual Studio 2013.
This makes for version 2.3.1 which is available for download at
https://colan.repositoryhosting.com/trac/colan_coltt/downloads. Previously Microsoft Visual Studio
2008 redistributables were included in the COLTT installer. This may have caused the issue you
encountered.

Would you be so kind to verify that COLTT 2.3.1 works for you? You need to uninstall COLTT 2.2 before
installed COLTT 2.3.1."

From Siemens
"Sorry have to disappoint you. Version 2.3.1 is still not working. Same failure message as before. I removed version 2.2 before as you said."

To Siemens

"Thank you for undertaking the test. You must be using a machine configuration that is different in some
way from what I made test on. I created a Win 7 64 bits Pro virtual machine, so a completely clean
machine and I installed COLTT 2.3.1 in it. Then I was able to start the COLTT controller without any
problem. Michael Halloran may have to review the policy applied with MS VS 2013 redistributables.
There may be some constraint he is not aware of. "
