#2 fixed Installer for TLB/PIA does not mention PIA within displayed text michelpons michelpons

Reported by michelpons, 8 years ago.

Description

Test made with the TLB/PIA installer corresponding to commit 50 of the installer: the text displayed during installation does not make any reference to the Primary Interop Assemblies. Somehow the end-user should be made aware that both TLBs and PIAs will be installed.

#6 fixed Documentation needed to explain what installer does michelpons michelpons

Reported by michelpons, 8 years ago.

Description

The Type Libraries and PIA installer should be proposed to users with a suitable documentation. While the installer itself is rather simple to run, with at install only two options given, a per-user or a per-machine run, the installer does not say what happens during the installation. There are modifications made to the Windows registry while there is also a number of files copied to C:\Program Files\Common files\CAPE-OPEN. Would make sense to mention that to the user in a short Word document that would go in the download section together with the installer.

#8 fixed Rights to write missing michelpons michelpons

Reported by michelpons, 8 years ago.

Description

In a Win XP Pro machine, I am running as computer administrator. After installing .NET Framework 3.5, I launch the x86 installer. I choose to make a per-user installation. The installer indicates it is ready to begin the installation. I get an error message: "Error writing to file: CAPE-OPENv1-0-0.dll. Verify that you have to that directory". I am proposed to retry. That I do and I then get to the screen indicating the installer is exiting because of an error.
